Dr. Wu is Secretary-General of the International Council on Ecopolis Development, and Lead Ecologist of E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. He is a scholar in watershed hydrology, ecosystem management, and geographical information systems and is also researcher and manager for over U.S. $2 million of research projects. Dr. Wu majored in ecology, and is the author of more than 50 journal papers and books. He obtained his B.Sc. in 1977 at South China University of Tropical Agriculture and M.Sc. at Graduate School of the University of Sciences and Technology of China. He came to the U.S. to pursuit his Ph.D. in 1987 and obtained his Ph.D. in 1991 at the University of Wyoming. He worked as post-doctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1990-1992. He then became research assistant professor at the University of Tennessee. He was employed as senior environmental scientist at the South Florida Water Management District in 1993; and then joined E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 2005. Dr. Wu is also guest-professor at Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dr. Wu is very active in many societal activities. He was the President of Chinese Association for Science, Economic and Culture in South Florida and was once chairman and president of six national organizations. Dr. Wu was one of few Overseas Councilors of China Western Returned Scholars Association. Dr. Wu also demonstrates strong organizational skill in his organization of the Symposium on China's Development in the 21st Century, which attracted governmental leaders and scholars from both U.S.A. and China. He was also the host for several international conferences and workshops. He has been invited to many governmental departments and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao, Kunming, Xiamen, Fuzhou, Huaibei and Haikou, to give a presentation on strategy of China's development and environmental protection. Dr. Wu understands China and China's development. He has the right connections in the people and city managers in China. |
